Case Study: How to Increase Brand Awareness Using Facebook Live

Providing a unique user experience:

We were connected with Ben Sigle and Trey Vernon of Manhattan Running Company to help increase visibility for the 2016 Bill Snyder Highway Half & 5K. Our proposed solution for the was to utilize a new tool from Facebook allowing us to record live video at the event. We knew Manhattan Running Company already had a strong Facebook following so we saw an opportunity to expand the reach to levels never seen before on their page. So we set out to increase brand awareness using Facebook Live.

Facebook Live was a great solution for two reasons. One, videos are posted natively on Facebook increasing the opportunity for a larger reach. Two, it allowed users to watch their friends and family cross the finish line increasing the odds of the videos generating likes and shares.

We spent a total of two hours live-streaming video on Facebook. Our work resulted in 12 total videos available on the Manhattan Running Company Facebook Page. Those same videos were embedded on the race website providing added-value.

Engaging users during a live event:

Facebook users watched their friends and family cross the finish line commenting words of encouragement on the live-videos. We facilitated interviews with race participants and staff as they finished the 5K and half-marathon, finishing off the day live-streaming the award ceremony which featured Coach Bill Snyder.

The live stream had anywhere from 20 to 50 people watching live at any given time during the race. Total it reached more than 47,000 people resulting in more than 15,000 video views, an increase of 270,900% from the race in 2015.
